North Dakota not only created an oil boom but also a boom of lonely single men. Williston, the heart of the boom, has 25,000 population; and 58% of its 18-34 year-old men are single, lonely and frustrated. These oil men of ND are loaded with money, making at least $100,000 a year with very few expenses only like housing and food, but their frustration is the lack of women to date, have relationship with, marry and start a family so they can find "purpose" on the money they're making. Williston 10 is the label men there used on all women, meaning a woman may look average outside the area but will be considered a Perfect 10 by the men.
In the 1860's, during the California gold rush, many men went west to join the gold rush and the lack of women became a problem. Men wanted to get married and have families and there were no women around so they came up with a solution of having mail-order-brides. Men would advertise on newspapers out east for women looking for a husband. And because these women responded, the wild wild west of brothels, saloons, mining camps became towns with houses, churches and schools. The women tamed the old west and turned the men of the west into civilized husbands amd citizens.
Back in early1950s, after the original oil boom, instead of people leaving North Dakota, they decided to settle and build the towns into what they are today. The recent oil boom that began in 2008 is due to the new technology of hydraulic fracturing. If someone in North Dakota right now will take seriously the task of bringing women there, through innovative promotion of their single men using online dating or something, who knows North Dakota's booming town may become a town of hard working FAMILY MEN with courageous women willing to brave the cold winter by adding extra layers of winter clothing. What happened in the old west can still happen today.
History has shown that women are the only ones who can tame men and make society civilized. Left to their own, men around other men will live in caves and eat while sitting on the ground using their hands. But with women, men will turn caves into houses, start eating at the table using the right utensils and of course, the ultimate way to make them behave, is by giving them babies and turn them into fathers. And when men have money, the next thing they want is create their family.
