The prospect of ordinary people right in their own home creating household objects like cups, spatula, prosthetic legs, customized mobile phones, etc. is not too far from happening. By using a 3-D printer, anybody will get a chance to manufacture anything right at their own home.
There are three traded companies right now leasing the 3-D technology. They are 3D Systems(DDD), Stratasys(SSYS), Proto Labs(PRLB). They are expensive stocks already, prices ranging from $60 to $80, but as they've said, when it comes to future great stocks, being an early bird is the way to go. The skeptics of Google and Microsoft how wished they bought as many stocks as possible during the birth of these tech giants, when they were still affordable and plenty of room to soar. Maybe 3D technology is going to be the next tech boom.
