SUPER BOWL FACTS AND FIGURES

HISTORY:
NFL(National Football League) was formed in 1920 and had its first offcial championsip in 1933. In 1960, AFL (American Football League) became a serious competition and both in 1966 decided to merge thaat became official in 1970. But before the official merger in 1970 season, the agreement to hold a "world championship" took place.

ORIGIN OF THE WORD "SUPER BOWL":
Lamar Hunt, AFL owner of Kansas City Chiefs, first coined the word Super Bowl during the merger meeting.

FIRST SUPER BOWL GAME:
In  January 15, 1967, Los Angeles Coliseum, Green Bay Packers defeated Kansas City Chiefs 35-10.

VINCE LOMBARDI TROPHY:
The trophy given to the winner in honor of Green Bay Packer coach Vince Lombardi, the first coach to win the first two Super Bowl and total of five championships for his team. The trophy is a 22" tall, 3 kilogram, a Tiffany-made $25,000 trophy and takes Tifanny workers four months to finish it.

MOST RECORD OF WINNINGS:
Pittsburg Steelers  with six titles  while Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers are tied with five.

CITY HOSTED THE MOST:
Miami and New Orleans are tied, holding ten Super Bowl each. Cities bid three to five years in advance to host the game.

MOST WATCHED TV PROGRAM IN AMERICA EVERY YEAR:
Super Bowl has an estimated audience of 90 million Americans and the 2012 game by New England Patriots and New York Giants hold the record of most watched in history with 113 million viewers.
